The rapid spread of digital technologies, which has also affected the agricultural sector, has led to the introduction of automatic systems capable of performing field operations with different levels of autonomy. For this reason, the client requested CRIT’s support in conducting scouting aimed at monitoring the phenomenon and outlining the global scenario of the spread of various types of ground robots and aerial drones developed for the agricultural sector.
After defining the area of interest together with the client, the activity stared relying exclusively on sources available via web.
Despite the specificity of the requests, the research has highlighted a large number of companies active in the sector. Considering this, a document with a database function was prepared for the presentation of results, aiming to accelerate the search of single solutions. Additionally, sheets with customizable real-time graphs were created to perform quick analyses on the extensive volume of collected data. During the final presentation, some of the results of the analyses, possible through these sheets, were reported providing an initial perspective on recognizable trends in the sector.
Thanks to this scouting activity, CRIT has highlighted the large quantity and variety of entities involved in supplying automatic machines for agriculture, capable of covering a significant portion of automatable work areas in this sector. The client has been provided with a tool to independently analyze the vast amount of data and identify trends, with the potential to develop innovative and competitive solutions compared to the state of the art.
